Five top tips to starting a successful business

I found this article online, written by my favorite business mentor – Sir. Richard Branson. As is always the case whenever I am opportuned to read his thoughts on business, I was indeed inspired and encouraged by the article. I thought you would too, so here’s to sharing & hoping you’ll love this as much as I did.
Enjoy!

As LinkedIn is a business that started in a living room, much like Virgin began in a basement, I thought my first blog on the site should be about how to simply start a successful business. Here are five top tips I’ve picked up over the years.

Vulnerability is Sexy

If you are reading this, it means you’re in the beauty industry, whether knowingly or unknowingly. This might come as a shock to you if you think you’re not. But the truth is: everybody (Yes that includes you) is in the beauty industry. We all want to look Presentable, Charming, Attractive, Glamorous, Sexy and most of all, command the attention and respect of everyone around us – sounds just like you right?

It does not matter what you do, the beauty industry-land is where we all spend the first few hours of the day. We want to look trendy in that new outfit. We want to rock that new shoe. We want to flaunt that Versace bag. And we want smell incredibly “delicious” (never mind the expression).

But if you’re a key party (Makeup Artist, Hair Stylist, Cosmetologist or Nail Technician) in the beauty industry, here is the new truth:

Be Vulnerable!!!

Be vulnerable to try new stuffs. Be vulnerable to do new things. Be vulnerable to start a new makeup style or a new product line. Be vulnerable to try new ideas.

Vulnerability is the new sexy.

You’re not in this industry because you want to fill a space or God forbid, you couldn't get a job after 5 years in the university. P.S: if that is why you’re here- you need a change of profession ASAP.

If that is cleared, here are ways you can be vulnerable.

By the way, “vulnerability in this context does not mean weakness. Rather, it means: “daring to do the possibilities that have the ‘im’ tag in front of them”.

PASSION~2~PROFIT!: MY 17 MILLION NAIRA DECISION!

PASSION~2~PROFIT!: MY 17 MILLION NAIRA DECISION!

Have you ever made a N17 million decision? I made one once, but didn't know it at the time.

In Oct 2010, I left a fantastic career and mentor on divine instruction. I had ONLY N20, 000 in my account, a pregnant wife who had left her job, my rent was due and most importantly, I WAS SCARED!

I'm sure you know what I mean. I had equated my job with my value and security, and now that it was gone, I felt I'd lost all my value. Being a two-time College Dropout, my career options were limited, so I decided to look INWARDThe only things I knew I could do were SPEAK, CONSULT, COACH and maybe WRITE and I could do them for FREE.
By April 2011, I had earned my 1 year salary, by July, (2 year salary), by September, (3 year salary) and by November I had earned my 4 years salary! Which came to 17 million Naira!
Wait a second! What happened between October 2010 and April 2011 that made the difference? I stumbled across this big secret which I’m about to share with you. It changed my life forever.
“God's greatest desire for you is to EARN A FEE, doing something He created you to do FOR FREE.”
